Franz Szony is a Los Angeles–based photographer and artist who describes himself as a photographic painter—an illustrator who uses the camera as his brush. For more than twenty years, his work has centered on creating surreal yet entirely photorealistic images, blurring the boundary between reality and fantasy while remaining firmly rooted in the physical world. Drawing inspiration from traditional photographic techniques, his images are meticulously constructed without AI - through elaborate sets, handcrafted costumes, practical effects, compositing, and hand tinting. Szony's work is a fleeting daydream, an invitation to wonder.
